To our couple o’ dozen readers. I realize that loading time has made it seem like everybody has dial-up. I’m working on it.
*UPDATE*
Try it now. I have weeded out some crap. Some stuff was the evil of sitemeter.

Oh, hey, don’t listen to J-fer. She’s all hopped up on cookies.
Really, if not for the load times, when would I get any sleep?
Is this WordPress, PP? I just always thought it was. RoD is slow to load too and I think they use WordPress. Also — newcritics. Same deal.
BP, Jennifer is hopped up on glue from when she made that fish this morning.
Fish do not hop people up.
I suspect it is all the feeds that have to load.
wow. it probably was. That is not cool.
Nope, it was probably one bad feed, like the ScienceNews Cobag.
Nope, still slow. WTF???
Blue Girl is STILL eating an ice cream cone incorrectly?
For what it’s worth, firebug was reporting circa 4 second load times for livesearch.js.php and af-extended-live-archive.js.php. Shutting them down with Adblock brought the page reload down to 2.07 sec.
Thanks, D, I will look into that ASAP. I need to figure out how to drop or modify those. Why would those be slow now, and not 6 months ago?
Dunno, PP. I’m not a wordpress guru, and grubbing through the K2 codebase doesn’t turn me on so much so I can’t really tell what the HTTP get from livesearch.php is trying to do.
If I had to hazard a guess there’s probably a DB select in the rolling archives bit that is not scaling well as the backlog of material builds up.
You might want to consider pruning some of that old half-assery. Also consider upgrading from r167, as it would appear that old release was well known for being a bit buggy.
It seems a lot better right now.
I’m not a wordpress emu, and grubbing through the K2 codebase
Hey, at least I’m not all hopped up on K2 codebase or like BP and all hopped up on grammatical errors!
BG- no glue was inhaled during the construction of that fish… just a lot of caffeine.
you fixed the frames, at least. yay Pinko!
Kathleen, are you using IE??????
D- I dropped a lot of stuff. I turned off the Live Search/ELA, removed a weird sitemeter thingy and dropped most of the feeds.
We’re upgrading everything in january, so perhaps things will run more smoothly.
yes. I am lame.
K- please use Firefox, if possible. I think you only get 0.25 ass in IE. I think half the sidebar is gonezoes!
you need to get these guys to help you out
